Due to the complexity of Google Analytics, as well as how some browsers and browser extensions work, you may experience issues connecting Google Analytics to Etsy and eRank.

We have put together this guide to help you troubleshoot common issues and get eRank’s Traffic Stats feature working smoothly for you.

Issue: the Setup button is not working

When you click on the "Setup" button, a blue pop-up should appear that allows you to start the connection process. However, some browsers and browser extensions can interfere with how sites work.

Possible solutions:

  1. Temporarily disable any pop-up or ad blockers and try again. To do this, open chrome://extensions (Chrome browser) or brave://extensions (Brave browser) in your browser and look for uBlock Origin, Ghostery, AdBlock, or similar. Temporarily disable these and try again.

  2. If your preferred browser is Brave, temporarily set “Shields Down” for erank.com and try again.

  3. Try logging into eRank with a different browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, Brave). If the button works and you are able to connect GA to eRank, you can switch back to your preferred browser once the connection has been established.

When you are finished, don’t forget to re-enable your pop-up or ad blockers or turn your Brave Shields back up.

Issue: Google Analytics won’t provide you with a UA tracking ID

Google no longer issues new UA tracking IDs.

Solution:

Create a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property. Instructions can be found here.

Issue: everything is connected but eRank is not showing any data

If everything has been connected correctly and you still don’t see any data, there could be a problem with your Google Analytics settings.

Solution:

You may have instructed Google Analytics to remove query parameters from URLs. To correct this, go into the "View settings" screen for your GA property and make sure you remove the tick next to the "Strip query parameters out of URL" box.

Issue: the wrong UA tracking ID is being used

The UA tracking ID that Google gives you for your shop should be the same ID that you have in your Etsy shop settings and eRank settings pages.

Issue: Google Analytics has not collected any data yet

Google Analytics will start collecting data from the moment you add your UA tracking ID to your Etsy shop. It is not possible to see historical data before that time.

If you just set up your Google Analytics account, or just recently added your UA tracking ID to your Etsy shop, then there may not be any data to show you yet.

Solution:

Wait a few hours for Etsy shoppers to view your listings. Then, come back to eRank and click the "Refresh Data" button on your dashboard.
