eRank's Listing Audit tool performs a comprehensive audit of any listing to see how well it complies with the guidelines in Etsy’s The Ultimate Guide to Etsy Search and Google Search Essentials

Benefits

This feature provides a thorough analysis of a listing’s title, stats, attributes, tags, description, and more.

Audit results are divided into sections. This makes it easy for you to assess each component of the listing and learn the basics of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). We suggest that you work on listings that are converting poorly first and leave the ones that are performing well alone until you are familiar with the SEO that works best for each of your items.

Use this feature to audit both your own listings and your competitors’!

How to use

For easy access, this feature is linked within most of eRank’s listing reports. Click the "Listing Audit" button beneath any listing title to view its Listing Audit report page.

From here, you can look up and audit additional listings using the field in the blue bar above the "Statistics" section.

Free members can audit up to 5 listings per day, Basic members can audit up to 50 listings per day, Pro members can audit up to 200 listings per day, and Expert members can audit up to 500 listings per day.

Statistics

Use these sections to see how many sales and views the listing has had, its estimated conversion rate, and more.

You can view your listing's letter grade at the top of the blue section on the left. This is a grade that eRank assigns your listing based on how well we believe it is following Etsy's best practices. Please note that the grade does not reflect the number of views or sales the listing has had.

We recommend that you start by clicking the orange "Refresh Listing" button to ensure that you are viewing the most up-to-date data.

Click "See on Etsy" to view this listing on Etsy.

Click "Create Keyword List" to generate a list of keywords using the tags in the listing.

If you're using our Listing Changes feature to track this listing, click the green "Show Changes" button to view its daily changes since you started monitoring it.

Listing Metrics

Use this section to view the following information about the listing:

Statistic

What It Means

Sales

The number of times the listing has sold since it was created. This is private information that only you can view. If you are viewing a competitor's listing, this information will not be visible.

Est. Conversion Rate

The percentage of the listing’s views that result in a sale. (Calculated by dividing the total number of sales by the total number of views this listing has had since you created it, then multiplying the result by 100).

Daily Views

The average views per day the listing has had since it was created.

Views

The number of times the listing has been viewed since it was created.

Favorites

The number of favorites the listing has had since it was created.

Quantity Available

The amount of this item the shop has in stock.

Visibility Score

A measurement of how well the listing's daily views compare to listings from thousands of other Etsy shops.

Traffic Stats

If you have connected a Google Analytics account with your Etsy shop, you can use this section to view how buyers have found your listing. Click "See Full Report" to navigate to our Traffic Stats feature and view more information about your listing's traffic.

All numbers here are based on data collected from Google Analytics over the past 15 months. However, please note that if your Google Analytics account was created within the past 15 months, you will only see data dating back to the day you created it.

History

Use this section to view the following information about the listing:

Statistic

What It Means

Listing Age

The number of days that have passed since you created the listing.

Created

The date you created the listing.

Last Updated

The date you last updated the listing.

Expiry

The date the listing will expire if it does not sell.

Notes

Use this section to add notes to your own listings (your notes will not be visible to shoppers viewing your listings on Etsy). This is a great place to leave yourself reminders about when to add keywords for upcoming seasons. Click the pencil icon to edit or delete your notes.

Superstar Keyword

Use this section to generate more relevant SEO tips to improve your listing.

Type a short phrase that describes your listing (example: “Christmas tree ornament”) into the "Enter Keyword" field and click "Add Superstar Keyword" to see where the words in this phrase appear in the title, tags, and description. All instances of these words will be highlighted in yellow.

If any of these sections are missing any part of your Superstar Keyword, the tool will flag that section and recommend that you consider incorporating it to increase visibility in Etsy search results.

Suggestions

Use this section to improve the listing according to Etsy’s and Google’s best practices. Sections of the listing that are flagged with an orange "!" may need to be revised. Sections that are flagged with a red "X" more than likely need to be revised.

Title Analysis

Use this section to view tips on how to improve the listing’s title according to Etsy’s best practices. Etsy recommends that you use language that sounds natural and choose common words as descriptors. Put your most important keywords (i.e., what your item is) at the beginning of your title. Etsy does not specify what character count constitutes “short” in a title, so use your best judgment.

Please note that the part of the listing’s title that a shopper sees when it appears in their search results is highlighted in yellow.

Click the orange "AI Title Helper" button in our Listing Audit feature to generate three title suggestions for the listing you are analyzing. Copy, paste, and edit to fit your needs. Please note that the AI Title Helper only works with listings from your own shop.

Tag Analysis

Use the Tag Analysis table to perform a "deep-dive" review of each tag and identify any tags that may need to be revised or replaced.

Click the "Edit Listing" button to revise the listing on Etsy.

Use the "Filter..." field in the blue bar to filter specific tags.

Use the dropdown menu to the right to select which country you would like to view data from.

This table includes the following tools for each tag:

Column

What It Means

Etsy Search Trend Graph

This indicates the changes in popularity of your tags over the past 15 months. Use the graph to determine which terms are seasonal, evergreen (always popular), gaining popularity, and losing popularity.

Bar Chart*

This measures each tag’s Average Monthly Searches, Average Monthly Clicks, Average CTR (short for “Click-Through Rate,” which is a ratio of clicks to searches), and Etsy competition. The data here is gathered from users in the United States over the past 12 months. The first three metrics can be viewed by Basic members, Pro members, and Expert members. All members can view the degree of competition each tag has in Etsy search results.

Checklist

This overviews the listing’s key SEO and indicates what parts comply with Etsy’s best practices. Etsy recommends that you use multi-word tags, avoid typos, begin your titles with your strongest keywords, and use your tags in listing descriptions.

*This data is color-coded as follows:

Color

What It Means

Green

The average number of monthly searches, clicks, or CTR for the tag is very high. A green competition bar means that competition with the tag on Etsy is very low.

Yellow

The average number of monthly searches, clicks, or CTR for the tag is high. A yellow competition bar means that competition with the tag on Etsy is low.

Orange

The average number of monthly searches, clicks, or CTR for the tag is low. An orange competition bar means that competition with the tag on Etsy is high.

Red

The average number of monthly searches, clicks, or CTR for the tag is very low. A red competition bar means that competition with the tag on Etsy is very high.

Sort your data using the small gray arrows at the top of each column.

Click on any tag in the column on the left to open eRank’s Keyword Tool feature, which helps you find other high-performing keywords related to that term.

Click the gray star next to any term to add it to one of your Keyword Lists.

Take a shortcut to your most recently edited list by clicking the floating blue button in the bottom left corner of the page.

Want to copy some of the keywords you see and paste them into a listing? Click the "Copy Tags" button in the bottom left corner of the table. This will save the terms to your clipboard, separated by commas.

Attributes, Materials, and Category

Use these sections to learn more about the listing.

The "Attributes" section displays any attributes added to the listing. Some examples of attributes are color, style, and recipient.

The "Materials" section displays any materials added to the listing. Some examples of materials are cotton, wood, and metal.

The "Category" section displays the listing's category and any subcategories it was filed under as well.

Using all of the attributes, categories, and subcategories that are relevant to each listing helps "explain" the item to Etsy's search algorithm. This can help your items appear in Etsy search results more frequently.

Description

This section displays the listing’s description, along with its character count. If you have chosen a Superstar Keyword and have included it in the description, it will be highlighted in yellow. In addition to adding attributes and categories to your listings, including relevant, popular keywords in each item's description can help them rank higher in Etsy search results.

Images, Processing Time, Sales History, Etsy Preview, and Google Preview

Use these sections to assess different parts of the listing.

Use Sales History to view the history of your listing’s sales and price points, along with the title at the time of each sale. Please note that this section is only visible if you are analyzing a listing from your own shop.

Use the Etsy Preview and Google Preview sections to view how the listing will appear in search results on Etsy and Google.

Note that on each, only a certain amount of the title and description are visible. This is why it is important to lead each of these components with your strongest keywords.
