The Category Report shows you what's selling and who's buying in each of Etsy's 15 product categories in the United States. View an analysis of the activity in each one that's based on the past 12 months of U.S. data. View the average price of the items sold in each category as well as each category's top subcategories, most clicked shops, most searched keywords, and most clicked keywords. This report also provides age, gender, and location breakdowns of the U.S. buyers in each category.
Benefits
Use this feature to research your competition and learn about the buyers in your category(ies) of choice. Explore popular shops and keywords and gain insight into the people who purchase from each category.
How to use
In the Main Menu, select "Competitor Research" and then "Category Report."
Click any category to view an analysis of its activity over the past 12 months.
Use the search bar in the top right corner of the page to look up another category after you're finished viewing this one.
View the average price of an item sold in the category you searched in the top left corner of the page. This figure tells you approximately how much shoppers are willing to spend on an item in this category.
Top Subcategories in Accessories
Use this section to view the most popular subcategories nested within the category. Click any subcategory to view its report.
Age Breakdown of Buyers
Use this section to view the distribution of buyers' ages in the category.
Gender Breakdown of Buyers
Use this section to view the distribution of buyers' genders in the category.
Most Clicked Shops
Use this section to view the most frequently clicked shops in the category.
Click any shop's name to open our Shop Info feature, where you can view important statistics about the shop, see where it ranks, and gain insight into its success.
Click the star next to any shop's name to add it to your list of tracked shops in our Competitor Sales tool.
Most Searched Keywords and Most Clicked Keywords
Use these sections to view the most frequently searched and most frequently clicked keywords in the category.
Click any term to open our Keyword Tool feature, where you can perform a detailed analysis of the top 100 listings found in search results for the term on your platform of choice.
Click the star next to any term to add it to your most recently edited keyword list.
Click the three dots to the right of any star to view all of your lists. Here, you can add the term to or remove it from any list using the checkboxes on the left. You can also create new lists and delete lists you no longer need.
Take a shortcut to your keyword lists by clicking the floating green button in the bottom left corner of the page and then clicking any list or "Manage Lists." Drag and drop keywords into your lists here as you research. You can also manage your tracked shops in our Competitor Sales tool by clicking "Tracked Shops."
Location Breakdown of Buyers
Use this section to see where the U.S. buyers in the category you searched live. Hover your cursor over any state to see what percentage of the category's total sales the buyers living there comprise.

This tool is available to all eRank members. However, please note that Free members and Basic members can only view limited data.
